Applebee’s: Applebee’s Canada has 28,000 employees.

Arby’s is an American brand, it does have 57 restaurants in Canada with unknown amount of Canadian employees. 

Burger King Chick-fil-A: While there isn’t a precise, publicly available number for the exact number of Canadians employed by Chick-fil-A, it’s estimated that each new Chick-fil-A location in Canada hires around 80-120 employees, and they plan to open 8 new restaurants in 2025.

Chipotle Mexican Grill: Chipotle has 26 stores in Ontario, 16 in British Columbia, and 2 in Alberta. Exact Canadian employee numbers are unknown.

Costco (Kirkland brand): Costco Wholesale Canada employs more than 10,000 people.

Jimmy John’s: As of 2024, Jimmy John’s has plans for rapid growth under Canadian master franchisor Foodtastic, which aims to open 200 locations across Canada within the next decade.

Gap Inc.: Gap Inc. operates various brands including Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic in Canada. Gap Canada employs more than 900 people in Canada. 

Goodwill: Goodwill Industries of Canada, a non-profit social enterprise, employs approximately 125 people across its various locations.

Home Depot: The Home Depot Canada employs more than 30,000 people across the country. This makes it one of Canada’s largest employers in the retail industry.

Lowe’s is the Canadian subsidiary of American home improvement chain Lowe’s. It employs approximately 26,000 Canadians.

McDonalds: McDonald’s Canada employs more than 90,000 Canadians across its 1,400 restaurants, both franchised and corporate-owned, from coast to coast. 

Molson Coors: While Molson Brewery is a Canadian company, it is now owned by Molson Coors, a US-based company. They employ over 3000 Canadians in six breweries across Canada.

OshKosh: OshKosh employs approximately 448 Canadians.

Panda Express: Located in Toronto, Calgary, and Edmonton with unknown data for Canadian employees.

PetSmart: PetSmart employs approximately 50,000 associates across North America.

Pizza Hut: has 587 restaurants in Canada but Canadian employee numbers unknown.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen: has built more than 60 Popeyes across Ontario and Saskatchewan. It has more than 1200 Canadian employees.

RONA: RONA is a Canadian home improvement retailer that was founded in 1939. However, it is currently owned by a U.S.-based private equity firm. It employs approximately 21,000 Canadians.

Quaker Oats: Quaker Oats of PepsiCo Foods Canada, which includes the Quaker brand, employs approximately 11,000 Canadians across its various food and beverage operations.

Sephora: Sephora employs over 2,500 people in Canada, with corporate offices in Toronto and Montreal, and is the largest beauty retailer in the country. 

Shake Shack: Shake Shack plans to open 35 locations in Canada by the year 2035. Current Canadian employee figures unknown.

Starbucks employs approximately 19,000 non-managerial baristas and shift supervisors in Canada, with the company owning and operating roughly 978 stores. 

Subway restaurants in Canada employ approximately 400,000 Canadians, with nearly 3,000 locations across the country. 

Taco Bell plans to add 600 franchises in Canada and thousands of jobs nationwide, the exact number of Canadian employees is not publicly available. 

The Cheesecake Factory: does not publicly disclose the exact number of Canadian employees it has.

Walmart: Walmart Canada employs more than 100,000 people in Canada.

Value Village: Value Village in Canada employs around 21,000 people across more than 300 locations.

Wendy’s has approximately 420 locations in Canada and is the third-largest quick-service hamburger company in the country. Canadian employee numbers are not publicly available.
